Virtual Learning Feeding Program

  September 1, 2020

 Dear SDSM Families,

The USDA has extended waivers for the Special Feeding Program through December 31st, 2020 pending federal funding.

With this extension we are able to provide the same service to our families that we had in the Spring. As of September 1st, 2020 there will be no charge for meals regardless of Free/Reduced or Paid status.

Members of our community will be able to pick up 5 Breakfast and 5 Lunch meals over our 2 Service Days (Mon. & Wed.) for any child in your household 18 years of age and younger. Your child does not need to be a member of our school district to receive meals.

Please continue to complete the pre-order form. This helps us to prepare and reduce waste. If you do not complete the form, you are still welcomed to participate.

*We have extended our Meal Distribution time at our Lakeview location from 11am-12:30pm

August 26, 2020

Dear SDSM Families:

South Milwaukee School Nutrition will be offering meal service during online and virtual learning.  However, it will be necessary to charge for these meals as we do during regular in-person learning. The USDA has not approved waivers, as they did in the spring that allowed us to provide an emergency meal program through the spring and summer. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction issued this letter of explanation.

Virtual Learning Meal Program:

  1. We will provide meal pick up service at 2 locations. Meals (Breakfast & Lunch) will be provided for regularly scheduled school days. Meals will be available for pick up 2 days per week.
  2. We must record and charge for meals served to each student’s account just as we do during a normal school day. This is necessary for us to receive reimbursement from the National School Lunch Program. The cost for meals are:

    2020-2021 Lunch & Breakfast Costs:

    Middle School

    High School

    Reduced Breakfast

    Reduced Lunch

  3. Students who qualify for free or reduced priced meals will receive the benefit as they do during regular, in-person instruction. The meal must still be recorded.

Meal Program Process:

  1. Meals should be pre-ordered by 6:00pm Thursday of the week prior to service whenever possible. The pre-order form is available on the NutriSlice Online Menu and the School Nutrition Web page, and here. Placing your order in advance will greatly assist in the pick up process as well as helping to prepare the appropriate number of meals and avoid waste.
  2. You must provide your student’s first and last name and the school they attend.
